A series of tragic characters help mold Robin's life: Robin's best friend Loni, her bisexual lover, is arrested for murder; transsexual Michael/Michelle's has a tragedy while awaiting a sex change operation; Robin's high school friend El suffers an agonizing consequence of her drug abuse. Disgusted by her life, Robin turns to her Cherokee grandmother. Spending several months in her grandmother's primitive cabin in North Carolina, Robin receives a bloodhound as a present with a promise that Bonnie Blue will help Robin find her soul mate.
