Linnea Eleanor "Bunny" Yeager (March 13, 1929 â May 25, 2014) was an American photographer and pin-up model. Yeager was one of the first photographers to photograph her models outdoors with natural light. Matt Schudel wrote in The Washington Post that her images were vivid and dynamic, going on to say, "She favored active poses and a direct gaze at the camera lens, in what could be interpreted alternately as playful innocence or pure lust. She met Bettie Page in 1954, and took most of the photographs of her that year. During their brief collaboration she took over 1,000 pictures of Page. American Photo magazine described Yeager's work with Page as "a body of imagery that remains some of the most memorable â and endearing â erotica on record" in a 1993 article. The famous still images she took of Ursula Andress emerging from the water on the beach in Jamaica for the 1962 James Bond film Dr. No are probably her best known bikini photographs. Yeager's obituary in The Miami Herald called her "one of the countryâs most famous and influential photographers." She has been cited as influencing many artists and photographers including Diane Arbus, Cindy Sherman and Yasumasa Morimura. Arbus called her, "the worldâs greatest pinup photographer." In The New York Times, Margalit Fox wrote, "She is widely credited with helping turn the erotic pinup â long a murky enterprise in every sense of the word â into high photographic art. This is a beautiful book that truly focuses on the natural beauty of the female figure without any "smut". Scarce in this nice a condition. A very handsome vintage copy in DJ.LOC SSM-07, A. S. Prima edizione (First Edition). Donovan Wylie's The Tower Series, now available as a complete set in a custom slipcase, reveals the repetitive character of military conflict across diverse geographies and histories. The first book in the series is British Watchtowers (2007), which studies the lines of sight from surveillance posts along the Irish border, and reveals a kind of virtual environment that enveloped the border region of Northern Ireland. The second book, Outposts (2011), charts NATO observation posts in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. Built on natural promontories with multiple lines of sight, these outposts formed a protective visual architecture and were frequently positioned on defense locations established during earlier conflicts.North Warning System draws a close to The Tower Series. Surveying a radar station just inside the Canadian Arctic, Wylie examines the detection of invisible threats through unmanned observation posts in remote regions.afterword La serie The Tower di Donovan Wylie, disponibile in un cofanetto, rivela il carattere ripetitivo del conflitto militare in diverse aree geografie. First edition. Hardcover. g+ to vg. Folio (12 1/4 x 9 1/4"). xiv, 413, [1]pp. Original photo-illustrated paper covered boards. Lavishly illustrated throughout with hundreds of drawings, b/w and color photographic reproductions, this work documents ten years of excavations and restorations in Laodikeia, an ancient city built on the river Lycus. It was located in the Hellenistic regions of Caria and Lydia, which later became the Roman Province of Phrygia Pacatiana. It is now situated near the modern city of Denizli, Turkey. Today, it is one of the most important archaeological sites in the region along with Hierapolis (Pamukkale) and Tripolis. The city is surrounded by necropolises. Excavations at Laodikeia show that the city was settled continuously from the Chalcolithic Period (Copper Age, 5500 BCE) to the 7th century CE. The name of the city was originally "Diopolis" (City of Zeus) and then "Rhodas" (Asopos Hill). In the middle of the third century BC., the Hellenistic city was established by Antiochus II of Syria (261-246 BCE) in the region and it was named "Laodikeia" after his wife Laodice. Without DJ, as issued. Presents David Hornillos' "Mediodia". The iridescent spectacle of Madrid, Spain at High Noon. "Madrid's Atocha Station was formerly known as Mediodia, as it was the city's Southbound railway hub. This is the location where David Hornillos worked between 2011 and 2014, during the central hours of the day. With the color orange in a leading role, David's work faces the viewer against this brick wall, drawing him into the atmosphere of a stifling and hypnotic mental state" (Publisher's blurb) . This is landscape photography: A stunning visual portrait of modern urban space. This is also street photography: People, birds, and stray animals appear, disappear, and re-appear within the frame against the omnipresent orange brick wall, as if drawn to the sun through its reflection. This is finally Conceptual art photography, in its most rigorous and Minimalist vein. By draining its vibrant subject of all but the most elemental aspects - noon, sunlight, orange, brick wall, passersby - it marks an advance in the vocabulary and aesthetics of landscape and street photography of our time. An absolute "must-have" title for David Hornillos collectors. This is a copy of the Limited Edition of 600 copies. It is very prominently and beautifully signed and dated (in the year of publication) in orange pen-marker on the title page by the photographer: "14 Noviembre 2014 David Hornillos". It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. It comes with a pristine Souvenir Postcard, also very prominently and beautifully signed and inscribed in black ink-pen: "Many thanks, David Hornillos". This title is a brilliant Artist Book. As far as we know, this is the only such signed and publication-year dated copy (with signed Souvenir Postcard) of the Limited Edition available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. Please note: None of the copies was commercially sold in the United Sates. A rare signed copy thus. 128 color plates. One of the most brilliant photographers of our time. A fine collectible copy. .
